Cannot install Flash Player 11.1.102.55?

I have spent the past 2 hours trying to upgrade my Flash to 11.1.102.55 from 10.1.102.64.

Apparently I have had this old version for a year or two and everytime I thought I had updated my Flash it didn't.

So, I uninstalled it as directed at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html rebooted, then verified that the Flash was no longer installed and it wasn't. I tested it by opening Safari and Chrome and neither one would recognize Flash pages/components.

So then I reinstalled Flash Player 11.1.102.55 and I downloaded the file directly from the Adobe webpage. It installed fine and said it successfully completed.

When I went back to check the version on the above mentioned page it said 10.1.102.64!!!!! It does this EVERYTIME! I CANNOT GET IT TO INSTALL 11.1.102.55!!!! I have rebooted, and reinstalled and uninstalled, etc. 5 or 6 times and it REFUSES to install 11.1.102.55!!

Can someone please help me with this??? There are online games and other things that I cannot use because my Flash is so outdated!

I have OSX 10.7.3 and a Mac Pro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 10 GB memory. I have all the latest updates from the software update link in the Apple menu.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated!

Thank you!

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

The version of Flash you're trying to install also installs a Flash Player Preferences panel in System Preferences under "Other." If you find it there, open it and click on the "Advanced" tab. It will tell you what version of the Plug-in is actually installed. I mention this because I've noticed the same kind of weird response on that web page, though generally when checking Flash versions inside a Windows Virtual Machine in VMWare Fusion.

That's weird. In that panel it states the correct version is installed. However, whenever I'm on Facebook and other sites, I get a "You must install the latest version of Flash" and it won't let me view the videos from within Facebook or other pages. However, I can view them on YouTUbe, etc. but I think YouTube uses HTML5.

Normally, I would suggest looking into browser extension conflict, but since you don't mention using Firefox, that's probably not it. I will say that I've gotten messages like what you're getting if an extension such as NoScript is putting restrictions on Javascript usage.
