Thanks for the reply on security.
I have a question to clear up a little confusion in my mind. I created an account called "iCloud Contacts" per instructions. It works. 🙂 Now, I'm seeing several things in the Address Book Groups column: All Contacts, iCloud Contacts (blue empty), iCloud Contacts (brown - list), On My Mac ( brown-list). What are all these guys?
Are you saying that any changes made from the mac should be made using Safari->Icloud->Contacts or are you saying it's ok to make changes from the mac using the recently created Address Book Group, (iCloud Contacts in my case)?
Thanks again for all the help.
I would recommend using only the web interface for changes or additions. The Mac should just be for reference.
Thank you so much - this worked perectly and solved days/weeks/months of frustration!!!

Firstly, have you migrated your MobileMe account at http://me.com/move ? If you haven't, you must do so as a matter of urgency as we don't know for how much longer this will be possible.
That done, you can set Mail up to access your iCloud email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
