MacBook Air (Mid 2011) doesn't charge

I have a MacBook Air (Mid 2011) and it won't charge the battery when I plug it to the wall adapter.

No matter what i do the light on the L shaped connector magsafe doesnt light up.

After a few tries, a few minutes, or even a few hours it just works..and I don't know why, or what to do to make it work all the time.

I tried resetting the SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964), followed every step, but it doesn't help.

I dont know if the problem is in the MagSafe Power Adapter, or if it is in the MacBook Air MagSafe Connector.

Here is a video of me trying to connect it to the Power Adapter without success:

Then 30 minutes later it is working again:

This time was 30 minutes, but there sometiimes is much, much longer before I get it to work..

What sloud i do?

My mac is still in the warranty period. If i take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP), will they change the faulty component for free?

(Where I live, in portugal, there are no official Apple Stores..so i can't go to one).

Oh man, this is happening to me, and I'm worried that the problem is with the computer and not the charger. my september 2011 MB air recently started to have this problem, and I switched it up and used a seperate power charger I had around the house, and it seemed to work fine for like a day, now it seems neither of the relatively newish chargers will charge my mac on a consistent basis. However, they both seem to charge my older mid 2009 mbp. Please tell me this isn't happening. I don't have an apple store within 100 miles of me. I'm not thrilled at the prospect of sending my macbook away either. Darn. This is the third mb i've bought out of 4 in the last 5 years that has had this same issue eventually. It has never manifested itself so quickly though.

I'm having the same problem with a twist. 11" MacBook Air, mid 2011 model. My original adapter stopped working -- no light, no charging. Tried switching outlets...nada. Tested a 60W charger from a MacBook Pro, and everything worked fine. So I went to the Apple store; they tested the charger (but not the computer), agreed it had failed, and gave me a new one. Problem solved...temporarily.

A week later the new charger is working, but the magsafe light isn't. It occasionally lights up after rebooting, but goes dead within a few minutes. Sometimes works after jiggling the connection, sometimes doesn't. Resetting the SMC has no effect. I'm theorizing that there is a loose connection on the computer end. Will make a return trip to the Apple store when I have the time (or when the charger completely fails..), but am curious whether anyone else has had this experience?

I have the same problem. I figured out why it is a sporadic problem; the problem is only seen if you plug in your charger when the battery charge is below the safe zone and into the red (low battery) warning zone. It works every time if above the warning level and almost never works if you plug it in after it has gone down into the warning level. Thus the computer does not recognize the charger beyond that point. I don't know if a new charger or new software will fix the problem.

If you look closely at the connector (with the light) it has 4 spring loaded contacts in it. Don't touch these while it is plugged in. If you use a small flat ended prod you can carefully test to see if these contacts move freely. If one or more were to be stuck it would prevent the connector from making proper contact with the charging port on the MBA. Careful manipulation of the spring loaded contact may free it up again. Do not use fluids to clean this connector, it could be fatal to it.
