Corrupt MacBook Pro Startup Screen

Hi everybody,

Occasionally, when i start up my MacBook Pro, the sign-in screen background image is corrupt along the bottom and the right hand side (See images below). I can sign in no problem, then all corruption is gone. The laptop always functions perfectly.

Any ideas?

Paul

You know, now that you mention it, i ran the daily, weekly and monthly scripts last night before i shut the laptop down. The only hitch is, the screen went crazy on the second startup of the day ... not the first startup. If it was a maintenance script it probably should have happened on the first startup after the maintenance. Maybe i'll try repeating the scripts and restarting to see what happens.

I am having the same problem but it only happens briefly when it switches from login screen to my user account screen. Also, when I start my computer, the gray screen with the apple on it is blown up like the aspect ratio or resolution has been affected some how. I only started to have these issues after I plugged my MacBookPro into an external display using the Thunderbolt/MiniDV port. The display automatically changed to fit the external disply I was using when I plugged it in but then never changed back. I adjusted the screen on my user account preferences but now my bootup and login screens are having problems.

I have a smaller glitch in the bottom left portion of my screen which shows up just before the desktop (presumably after the sign in would normally happen). I have no idea what is causing it and I've done the command R reinstall of Lion. That did fix an earlier problem of the display not waking from sleep, but it did not solve the glitch. The shut downs als seem terribly slow. I'm considering whiping the drive and doing a truly clean install.
