Relink event clips and Incompatible file error

Oh , missing effects. But still footage wont display , I can redo the effects if needed. I think I will still delete and start again.

easier than fixing.

There are two issues here: algorithm design and interface design. Apple needs to fix both the algorithm used to detect the specified differences, as well as allow the user to bypass the check in the interface. Software Design 101. This is so uncool, Apple. And this is the very reason I switched to a competing editing suite.

Hi everyone please help me solve this relinking issue. I am out-sourcing my edit to oversea and I am compresseing my 1920 x 1080 | 23.98 to the below and they will edit the project using Adobe Premiere CC and send me a XML.

Then I will conver the xml using 7toX app and open the XML in FCP X. I am having issues relinking the media.

Can you supply more info .

Did you create a proxy version ?

If so , in prefs have you got proxy selected ?

Do you store files on an external drive ?

The more you tell me the faster I can resolve this .

So I started the project in 10.0.4

There's a lot of footage in the timeline from three different cameras.

I created proxy media for one of the cameras.

I downloaded mavericks and shortly after FCPX 10.1

I imported/Updated the project.

When it's set to proxy i see the footage that had proxies made.

When i switch it to original media the footage appears black in the event window and doesn't play.

But when I go to the info of a specific clip and go reveal in finder it sure enough finds it.

When I try to relink though I get the incompatible error.

The footage is all stored on an external drive. I haven't moved anything and I haven't edited any of the media.

It should all be the same.

It's weird as the footage doesn't seem to be missing.

If you try and relink the footage then hit the button to just see the missing footage there's nothing there. Yet in the timeline everythings black and you have the red strip above the clips. When you try to relink it back to itself you get the error.

As a short term solution I was thinking I could bring my edit from 10.1 back into 10.0.4.

Is there a way to export an xml that works with older versions of FC?

Have you verified the media it finds IS the original footage. ( full MBs ) & not a proxy or a link to the real file ?

Can you play it from the external hd ? What is the file extension ? Did you optimize any or all of it ?

Are any other projects effected ? If its only this one , you must have made a mistake with moving the footage . I have had this problem but was so long ago I dont remember what I did to fix it.

Can you do some screen shots of files etc ?

I didn't switch between prefrences when i imported the project. I've alwys been in optimised/original.

You havent used compound clips anywhere ?

I can right click on the clip in the timeline to reveal it in the event

Did you change the name of the event or project at any point ?

Could you have made an optimised version & deleted the original ?

I havent seen the red lines there before , usually there on the clip itself , not at the top.
