Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?

Uploaded the book several days ago and haven't seen it yet.

If this is your upload, it may take a while. New iAuthor files are taking a while on their own. I know the waiting period can be nerveracking. Others on the forum feel the same way. - Fabe

I'm waiting as well, though It's only coming up to 2 weeks. I'm still not certain what is taking so long with the review process, as it's only the first few chapters of my latest serial novel. I decided to self-publish this one in instalments for free instead of going through my publishers - more for my own enjoyment/experimentation. But, I digress. I assume it's because Apple is receiving a massive amount of iBooks and I'm, hopefully, coming up soon.

I have heard, however, that the first approval takes longer typically than subsequent ones.

Hi all, just letting you know I uploaded my book "Career Management: Access the Hidden Job Market" to iBooks about 2 weeks ago. I didn't hear anything for over a week so I sent a message through the "contact" area on iTunes connect. I received the following message and then my book went live on the bookshop the next day. Good luck! Hello Shireen, Thanks for taking the time to write to me regarding your book, "Career Management: Access the Hidden Job Market" and its review status in the iBook Store. I'd like to apologize for our long response times, as we are experiencing a high volume of requests. Your title is still under review. We're experiencing a high volume of requests and appreciate your patience as your book makes its way through this process. If no errors are identified during the review process, your book will be made available for sale in the iBooks Store within 24 hours of the completion of the review, if the sales date has already passed. Otherwise, your book will go live on the scheduled release date. Please continue to monitor the status of your book in the Manage Your Books module of iTunes Connect. I hope that this information is helpful to you Shireen. If you have any further questions for me, please don't hesitate to reply to this email, submit a request via the Contact Us Module within iTunes Connect, or give me a call and we'll be happy to assist you. My experience is that the approval process takes longer lately. I have published nine books so far with multiple updates. Last year, a new book was onced apporved in two days and also updates took only a day or two.

The experience from the last few month is quite different. My book "Logic Pro X - How it Works" took over three weeks and even the last two updates for my other books I delivered took up to three weeks.

A few things to consider

  • Of course, the longer the book, the longer it takes for them to read. However I had books with 700+ pages and 200+ pages and didn't see much difference. It seemed that other factors weight in more (how long is the back log)
  • One stupid mechanism is that once you get a ticket and submit the correction you are going back the end of the line
  • The custumer support for iTunesCconnect is extremely good and helpful (877) 206-2092. When somthing took way too long or there were some problems, they conneted me directly to the senior advisor which gave me his extension to follow up on issue. Big thumbs up for that service.

About the Customer Support.

Although the guys and girls are at a different departement and don't do the actual proofreading, they are, in my experience, very helpful to solve any issue.

Hope that helps

My first book "El Carnaval de Barranquilla" (https://itunes.apple.com/book/carnaval-de-barranquilla/id662887370), published in June 2013, took less than 24 hours. My second book "El Carnaval del Bicentenario" (https://itunes.apple.com/book/el-carnaval-del-bicentenario/id825597830), which is a free book and was published Febuary 2014, took about one week.

You are placing this same post on other groups..... What is your problem thats needs support.

I have ssaid that in iTunesConnect their is a "Contact us" at the bottom of the page - your responce... but there are no options which cover your problem.

Answer use one nearest your problem or just use any and include in your comments that you cannot find a suitable subject and will they re-direct.

IF you have delivered a book to the review team.... it can any time from 1 day to maybe three weeks... it all depends on how busy they are. Check your iTunesConnect > Manage your Books and see what the books status shows.

You do not help yourself by just complaining about Apple - how are we supposed to offer advice when you do not even bother to tell us your problem?

Another positive experience and proof that the time for approval varies tremendously. My previous book "Logic Pro X - How it Works" took about three weeks for approval. I just uploaded my newest book "GarageBand X - How it Works" and to my surprise, it took two business days and went online today. This is especially astonishing because this is an enhanced iBook with over 600pages.
