Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?

any service that takes more than one week is poor service

This is not a fair comment, however, the usual practice when poor service is considered to be detrimental to any persons expectations.... is not to use it and move to a better service.

iTunes have not given any time line from submission to appearing in the iBooks store, - how can they when they never know how many books are going to be uploaded for review?

Two years ago in the "boom" there were said to be 50,000 a day! Ever since the number as declined.

If you check the number of "views" each post gets in the iBA support group you will see old posts were in high 5 figures.... now its usually under 50.

Delivery time for any book is suggested from experience to be anything from 24 hours to 21 days or more - "depending on how busy the review team are".

This assumes no tickets are issued to require changes and re-delivery.

I believe we have had enough of contempt that you are offering your content providers and also have decided to withdrew from this iBook submission.

Until now we were with the view that Apple was the first choice but after your complacent answer we can no longer support this view.

Perhaps in the future Apple may realise that contracts are lost if content is not online within a week

Again I say this

Apple it's only a matter of time before your customers will not accept robotic answers

If you think that 21 yours to 21 days is your acceptable answer then it's only a matter of time before your corporation fails.

This immature answer from Apple only displays that your team is prepared to disregard any respect towards your customers

And by the way next time you get someone to respond to this forum within 20 minutes why not try to apply the same recourses towards iBook submission instead of your robotic 21 hours to 3 weeks

And let's see how long you intend to keep up the poor service

And keep the remaining market share

The positive experience from the original delivery of my book is somewhat overshadowed. While the original submission was approved in two business days, I submitted an update in the meantime with some minor corrections (mainly typos) and that is is "In Review" now for 5 business days already.

Very inconsistent review process time, or maybe very inconsisten amounts of submissions Apple is getting.

I was prepared that it would take so long for uploading an iBook into store.

We were hoping a faster outcome but now we realise that given your mass and volume I now understand the big picture

Its not contempt - its an observation derived from your complaint about poor service.

This and other threads have many replies to questions about time from delivery to appearing in store... you did not follow discussion group suggestions to check before making a post.

Also.. ".... your content providers" I am not employed by Apple - nobody on any of these groups are Apple staff - we are just folk who try to pass on any help we can.

I seem to have gone from contempt to complacent ! "We" ? Apple is A choice, how you use its free service and facilities is your choice... but its wise to fully investigate the system and requirements before you start any project.

"Contracts"? You contact with Apple to comply with its requirements as a condition of using the facilities they ofer free of charge. You perhaps do not know that at one time it was taking 3- 4 weeks from delivery to appearing in the store due to the numbers of books submitted. Believe me, a week is pretty good now.

So, my reply is Contempt, Comlacent and Immature? ...sorry I really thought I was trying to let you know in detail... the facts you were looking for, even though the information is already in may threads.

Good luck as there are other options .. this is true, so we each must gather the information we need before moving into a new venture....

Again, guessing Darren was the person who replied to your contact with support - Apple do not monitor, so your comments - which is contempt for his factual reply are wasted here....

However.. it was I who suggested it can take 24 hours to 21 weeks from delivery - which is a typical period to expect.

Just want to give an update on this. I submitted by book to the iBookstore on Tuesday 17 June,2014 around midday and the book became available in 51 territories on Thursday, 19 June 2014 at night. I was on the phone with iBooksAuthor support while delivering it as I had formatting issues, etc, and the advisor guided me step by step, with great patience, until it was all done. While we waited for the book to upload (it can take a few minutes) I asked about review time: he told me it varies, it can take as little as 24hrs, depending on how busy the review team is, and whether the book has lots of widgets, tables, etc, but usually it is done in a couple of working days!

(This is tangentially related, but I had to call iBooksAuthor support a few times, and each and every time, they were extremely helpful, kind and patient, helping me solve every problem I could not find the answer in the forums - thank you Apple, you are a joy to work with and simply amazing!)

Here is another interesting experience regarding the approval time.

I updated two of my books ("Logic Pro X - How it Works" and "GarageBand - How it Works") and submitted them on June 9th at the same time. The Logic book got approved the next day while the GarageBand was stuck "in Review". A week later when it still was "In Review" I contacted iBookstore support and they promised to look into it. Today (June 20th), the book was finally approved. Now how does that make sense?

I understand that the workload fluctuates and I experienced that in that past, sometimes 24h, sometimes up to four weeks. However, if I submit two books at the same time (both with same amount of pages, ca 700), both should enter the queue at the same time with a similar waiting list number. How is it possible that one book is approved in 24h and the other one takes almost two weeks (no tickets, no edits required). This has nothing to to do with the workload. There must be something else going on at that approval department.

About the customer support. I can confirm that it is overall a very pleasant experience. However, from my experience, the low level support is not very well trained when it comes to issues beyond what they read from their computer prompt. I always ask for the higher level, they can email the approval department to get answers and they are amazingly good at following up, giving you their extension numbers to stay on top of any problem.

The review process is still extremely inconsistent. And I don't mean long wait time due to a big workload. How can you explain my latest experience.

I uploaded an update of a different book the other day. It was approved in less than 24 hours. Great. After that I updated the Description, the metatdata. I made changes to two sentenced and it is in Review for the third day now. Really ??? On top of that, I had a senior advisor look into that but still waiting. Again this makes no sense.

The answer is always the same.... it depends on how busy they are at the time you submit your book.

Without wishing to sound negative, surely your update should have been uploaded only after you have ensured everything was OK, it may be that the quick review was an auto check ... but the second update with metatdata changes affects Apples systems and will possibly take longer because either human checks are needed or system changes which use the metatdata will take longer.

The solution is to make sure all changes in an update are made at the same time and after its return for review... real ease into the store time will always depend on how busy they are and will vary from hours to weeks.
