Once my book is uploaded, how long before it appears in iTunes?
Uploaded the book several days ago and haven't seen it yet.

I have a free book- that is not good news. In addition, I read on another page that when you sign up for iTunes Connect, you receive an email that accepts you (this takes a week). I got an email directly after I signed up saying that I should activate, my account. Was this my approval? Also, I submitted my book yesterday and got the message "unknown issue" today. What does this mean? How can I resolve this? Thanks!
This thread has been very helpful in setting expectations for me. However, I realize now that I have to change my preview file. Should I wait until my book is approved or should I change it now? Is it possible to change the preview file by itself or do I have to re-submit the whole thing.
Thanks,
Do free books need previews? In iTunes Producer, I can't find a tab for a preview.
I doubt your book will be approved without the preview, so I would just go ahead and upload a preview image, and resubmit. I too originally submitted my book without a preview seeing as how iTunes Producer said it was optional... But I quickly uploaded an image and resubmitted the entire book, which only took a few seconds.
Well I updated some parts of my book that I'm working on for a charity last night and uploaded it again - while it has been in review (some 2 weeks).
Got 3 errors
1. Book in review
2. Unknown error
3. Unknown error
Sent them a message and I got the following back from them
Thank you for contacting iBookstore Publisher Support regarding your title
Please note we are currently reviewing your inquiry and will get back to you as soon as possible.
We appreciate your patience.
Best Regards

Where do you upload e preview in iTunes Producer?
Don't need preview in free books, and reading back from your previous posts I think you have a free book.

Yes, I have a free book. I also uploaded a regular book (ePub). How long will it take for this to become available on the store? Thanks for your help!
Hard to tell, i've been waiting for more than 2 weeks for my book.
It will happen when it happens
True...is the book process faster than the textbook process?
My book is a textbook, and it's been 29 days since submitting... I haven't read any official documentation regarding textbooks taking longer/shorter approval turn around times... so I'm just assuming all books/textbooks/epub's are taking an eternity to get approved. 😕😐
Probably not. I am just not sure whether you can select "Textbook" as it is reserved for those few big publishers for US Textbooks.
In my case, I have submitted 24 books so far. Only 7 books (actually 8, but one has been pulled after I submitted a revision) have been approved so far after one month (http://itunes.apple.com/artist/winktolearn/id504132655). Many books are now more than 1 month old waiting for approval.
I am ceasing all developments for iBookstore after we finished off the remaining 6 books. This is our first batch of books and probably the last. The whole process is nothing less than ridiculous.
I do wish that Apple would hire more popeople to its iBookstore Team.
So do I!
It's hard to understand how a company that was: planning this for many months, is sitting on billions in cash to hire and locate support staff, and has a huge new data center to handle the volume... is making people wait more than 2 weeks. I can see how up to 2 weeks might be reasonable with more complex documents, in a space where there are many titles in the queue, otherwise it's lousy customer experience / service any way you cut it. People waiting 4 weeks+ is just unacceptable, especially when some people are finding out after weeks there are minor errors that take a few minutes to correct.
I wonder how many of these "error" cases involve problems with iTunes Producer. They need to take a close look at their authoring submission process and simplify it. iTunes Producer should be easier to fill out, find all errors in code or missing elements BEFORE submission, so that once submitted the only possible hang-ups are things that can be discerned by humans... and there should be enough staff to make 10 day turnarounds from that point standard except in cases of extreme high volume (let's say every July they are deluged with new text books for schools in theory - I could see how that would extend the waiting period).
Common Apple, help these people out! I'm half way into the production of a new book and this is making me regret my decision to go with this platform vs. InDesign and ePub.
