IPhone 4 battery/hot/not holding charge

My IPhone 4 has recently started having battery issues. Even if fully charged, it will be dead within a few hours or less if I use it. And on top of that, the battery gets really hot to touch. Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? I have only had the phone 5 months.
