To get a book made by iBooks Author, into the iBookstore, a ePub format has to be "available" when applying for a iTunes account
(Able to deliver book content in EPUB format, passing the latest version of EpubCheck)
Does iBooks Author convert to ePub ?
Or is this ePub format not required when using iBooks Author?
iBooks format is ePub format... think of it as ePub+.
Thanks for the response. I realize now I was using the unconverted version of the file. Once I published to iBook format explicitly, it all worked.
If i have design a book in IBA and i want to get that format uploaded with epub so ppl can read it on iphones etc instead of the IPAD and MAC only bec of the IBA format.
What do i do ?

It's not possible, other than by exporting your book to pdf format. For an iphone to read it, you have to recreate you book in a different app, like Pages, that can produce .epub format.
