I want my "save as" back!

I'm putting this here because I don't know how else to register my displeasure with the "Duplicate" "feature" that made my life more difficult since I upgraded to Lion.

Please, Apple, put a "Save As" option underneath "Save a Version." It's ridiculous that "Save As" was taken out...no good reason for that.

In fact, I just tried the option key and 'duplicate' changes to 'save as' and I can use the function. The weird thing is that I am no longer on Mountain Lion, I am now on Mavericks since Thursday. At least, the function comes back with the Option key help, but it doesn't look like I had reinstated on Maverics, like you have... really hard to understand. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

I used to click in the Title bar (in Preview) to initiate Save As which was very convenient:

click in the Title bar,

in the file list that appears, click on an existing file whose name is similar to the one I want to use,

make a small edit to the filename,

save.

that's gone in Mavericks... at least, it's no longer accessible via the Title bar.

so, thank you for the Option-key tip. it works; not as convenient as clicking the Title bar but it'll do.

cheers.

Hi Pack,

All you have to do is press the Option key when you go to the File menu, and Save As.. will magically appear!

Or Command-Option-Shift-S.

All you can say about why the programmers did this, was that they probably felt it was more useful for people to have their original document available and open after they would change the name. I too find it very difficult to get used to.

I want my "save as" back!
