Will Mountain Lion be a free update to Lion 10.7?

Hi, I currently have OSX Lion 10.7.2 and was wondering if Mountain Lion will be a free update or paid. Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

I doubt it. It will probably be a paid upgrade but I haven't seen any definite yet.

I really hope it's free. Lion came out barely a year ago, and already they're coming out with a "brand new" OS? I say "new", because I don't really consider the few new features a major upgrade from Lion. I don't think they are adding any new features that warrant an entirely new OS label; I see this more as a glorified Lion update.

Do you have a copy of Mountain Lion running to see ALL the changes both UI and under the hood? If you have a developers copy then you still don't see everything that will be in the final release and should be posting in the developer's forums. If not then you too are merely speculating on a not yet released product. And what New Operating System Upgrade has ever been free?

Good Luck

Being an apple fan for years, I will highlight one subject. Mac OS X Lion was by far the worst OS mac os 10 gave us.

It is obvious that apple agrees, since apple never developed a new mac OS release in such short time. In less than 1 year mountain lion will be available. 9to5mac also pointed out that apple filed something that included futere free updates for OS.

In my opinion, mountain lion will be free for lion upgrades and 29$ from SL. The only arguement that can hold apple back doing this is that by following this path, apple actually admits how crappy was lion.

Apple have announced they will be releasing a new OSX every twelve months from now on. ML will not be released inside a year. It's 10 months now and still in developer format. Who are 9to5? Apple's official spokespeople?

In conclusion, you have no idea what Mountain Lion will cost. You have had a personal bad experience with Lion so wish to rant here with no substance whatsoever to your post.

Have a nice day

Haha, aggressive little boy...

I already work in mountain lion, so it is just the view from my perspective. I don't hope something for my own benefit.

Of course noboday knows apple plans. If you read, you should know that not even foreign deparment's employees are familiar what the plans are. That's why I mention "in my opinion".

In conclusion, turning down a speculation is super easy, making an arguement on the other hand....
