Annoying boxing bell "ding"

try going to mail.preferences new message sound, scroll up the menu selct none. uncheck other mail sounds

If your "Alert" sound is set to that sound, any error could cause it to play that sound. You can change it to something you prefer in:

System Preferences > Sound

Do you have any third-party add-ons installed? Which ones?

Have you Re-Booted the computer. When I made a change to the alert sound I had to reboot for it to take effect.

It should be the Gmail Counter Addon for Safari. We both have this addon in common and I asked me the same question about this annoying bell sound. I deactivated the addon a minute ago and hope the best. Strange if it's the addon because notification is unchecked in properties...

Please tell me how you deactivated that add-on?

In your Safari Settings is a tab with all your addons, should be called addons or similar. there you can uncheck a box unter every addon to activate/deactivate it.

I actually found this under Safari/Preferences/Extensions. There you can click on the appp you want to remove and uninstall it. I removed the GMail Counter app and will monitor to see if this has solved the problem. So far so good

I found where the bell sound comes from!!! it's from the GMail Counter app. To disable it WITHOUT HAVING to remove the aplication go to:

Safari/Preferences/Extensions/GMailCounter, check the option "check me to open Settings Menu"

that wil redirect you to a tab in the safari where it shows the GMail Counter app settings, there click "Notifications" and disable the sound, or change it for anyone that you want
