iPhone 4 - keeps asking for Apple ID password

Me too. Gets in the way of my alarm in the morning, making phone calls, checking my calendar -- basically everything I use my phone for. If I was new to iOS and didn't recognize it as a bug, I'd be ready to throw it out it's so frustrating.

Same problem here. It seems to be related to either the 5.1 update or setting up iCloud on my iPhone 4. It's incredibly annoying. I thought it might be related to automatic downloads so I turned this off (Settings/Store/Automatic Downloads) but it still keeps happening. I tried signing out of the store and back in but that didn't work either.

I have solved this problem on my phone by going into;

Settings

Store

Then at the bottom in the Apple ID section signed out and then signed back in.

Since then I have not been asked and can use my phone again.

It still periodically tells me that I have items that cannot be downloaded, but at least it's not asking me to sign in all the time! Thanks!

Hey everybody! What's up? Mine is doing the same thing and it's annoying. Does Apple read these pages and help us figure out these issues? I bet it's something extremely simple, just wish they'd step in and say "No worries, just turn of X or Y."

I've tried everything from turning off email, to deleting iCloud, reinstalling iCloud, changing password, etc. Sometimes the popup will stop for an hour or so, then it starts up again.

Help Apple.

I am having the same problem. I tried all the tricks you guys suggested but it still happens. very annoying.

This issue is usually caused by unfinished downloads timing out, so that the password keeps getting requested. Most commonly it will be a large fresh download or update that cannot complete due to lack of spare space on the phone (bearing in mind that app downloads need about 3 times more space than the app will take up once installed)

I am having this same problem with my iPhone 3GS. I am still running iOS5.0.1 but this problem just started happening within the last couple of weeks.

I contacted technical support about this issue because my phone kept asking for my Apple ID password when I was downloading or purchasing an app and they told me that this is new security measure of Apple to be prompted for the Apple ID password when your downloading or purchasing an app.

Hello all... I was having the same issue. I had my husband take a look at it and he told me to go into my Game Center on my iPhone. So I did... And sure enough, there was an update to the user agreement. So, I clicked agree and ever since then, it had not popped up asking me for my apple password. I just hope it stays like this.
