I am trying to pair my Mac (ibook G3, OS 10.4.5) with my Treo 650 for use in areas where I amj unable to connect via modem or Airport. The Mac finds the Treo but gets "stuck" trying to generate a passkey. It triggers the Treo to ask for the passkey but it never gets generated. The little grey gear just turns and turns and will continue forever if I let it I suspect! Bothe the ibook and Treo are set to be discoverable.
In sounds like you are conducting this procedure 'backwards.' You must intiate the pairing from your Treo, and confirm the pairing from your Macintosh.
I tried having the Treo pair with the ibook. Still does not work. The ibook still indicates that it is getting info from the Treo and the gear spins and spins and spins...
Hello,
I have encountered this scenario several times. The simple fix is to soft reset the Treo, turn on the phone, turn on bluetooth, turn dial-up networking on, then pair the Treo FROM the Mac.
I just upgraded from 10.3.9 on an iBook G3 to 10.4.5 on a MacBook Pro, and now I can't pair my phone when it's in DUN mode (and if I pair it beforehand, I can't connect using my bluetooth connection once I enable DUN). I tried the most recent suggestion to no avail - any other ideas?
I repaired this problem in my Titanium PowerBook 800 MHz by replacing System/Library/Core Services/Bluetooth Setup Assistant with a previous version: 1.6. This trick doesn't work in the MacBook Pro.
