iCloud mailbox keeps asking me for my password
Why does iCloud mailbox keep asking for my password, even though I have saved the password in the keychain? After I enter the password, I am able to access my mailbox.

That is Mail. I asked if you signed in using System Preferences iCloud, did you do that? Yes or No please.

Then you should.
Use the same login as your phone is using (which should be the same as the website login)
Delete the existing account (on your Mac) first.
for the new account type on Mac, what do I select?
Pop, imac, exchange2007, exchange imap?
You are still not doing as I asked.
In System Preferences>iCloud, sign in and switch mail on!
Your Mac is not compatible with iCloud, you must upgrade to (at least) 10.7.5 but the newer the better (10.9 is the current release)
Here are the correct settings for iCloud mail, try them in your client, don't expect any other iCloud service to work.
OK, I followed the directions,
I now have an email account! I used the new appleID. But, it only added 3 Apple Hotnews messages. I do not have all the other emails.
(I don't want to delete and replace the mail on my phone until I get the desktop account fixed.)
Are the emails on the iCloud website?
And, my web icloud email is not showing messages since 10:57am !

All clients (Mail on your Mac, Mail on your iPhone and the website) MUST be signed into the same account. Are they?
I understand they need to be same account. They are same email address, but as I said before, different password. I'm using what works.
On the phone, it's listed as --.mac.com but also accepts me.com
On mac, it's listed as both.
Now, I finally have all my emails on icloud website!

If they have different passwords they are NOT the same account.

On my mac, i deleted and added the account again with the new apple id (just as before), and it worked!
On my phone, it has the old pw, and my email works just fine. Do you still think I should delete and make a new account? I'm thinking "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"
