Yea the issue is intermittent with my display. I guess the stagnation on this thread suggests that people have figured ways to deal with it.

My Display from July 2011 just started to have the same issues. This is poor quality.

Is the Mini DisplayPort plug pushed in all the way (no metal showing)?

i no longer have apple care on this monitor so my gut says they will not replace it...certainly worth inquiring though.

my apologies regarding inputs: mini-dvi not hdmi.

The display should work with no USB connection. USB is needed for computer control of brightness, and for the USB ports on the back of the display, but is not needed for the basic display operation.

Wow, only $85... the part is $130 aftermarket. I'm suprised Apple charges that little. Especially since it was both the part and the install. Glad it worked for you.

I had same issue with Cinema Display not turning on. I simply restarted my Mac Air while hooked up to the monitor and it corrected the issue....

I have a 30" that was blacked out. I plugged in the USB from the display cable into the computer. I then plugged in a USB hub into the 30" display's USB ... and the display lit up!

You need a power adaptor because your laptop doesn't have enough energy to power the display

Hello. In my case the Cinema Display works with plug USB in frontbcase

Long term issues with my 27 inch ... just sits idle while I use a Samsung. Can you give some more details on what you are doing and using please.
