/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed

Thanks for the idea, I gave it a try but to no avail...

I Verified the permissions...

I Repaired the permissions...

I reset the printing system...

I tried to print a couple different .PDF files and I get the same error...

/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstocupsraster failed

If you have any ideas based on the results above, I'd be happy to try something else to get this problem fixed.

Here is the version I'm using:

When I went to get the log details the queue was closed so I thought the older job would be gone so I ran a new print job this morning.

When the queue opened I realized the older job error details were still there so I went ahead and included both below. I hope this info helps and thanks again for following up with me.

I think we may have rulled out the driver with the suggested test but I'll let you be the judge based on the information below:

I was able to download and install the Gutenprint and add the driver and print from the printer using that driver for non .PDF files successfully.

Next I attempted to print the .PDF file for the Click-N-Ship from the post office and it errored out.

I've included the error log from the Gutenprint attempt to print the .PDF below as well as a snapshot of the error.

The Job Message is the same: /usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstocupraster failed.

Please let me know what might be next or if you need any further information from the way I have it setup currently.

Hi David,

I'll be glad to do that. It's been a while but to confirm I'll need to turn on the root user and then login as that user in order to access this file right?

Also, as a workaround (this is responding to your 02/23/2012 11:14 reply) I tried the Print as Image option and it did print the .PDF as an image.

I would still like to get the general printing functionality for .PDF's to work as normal so I'm defenately going to proceed with the adjustment to the TempDir in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file.

Thank you so much for helping me with my printing problem.

The problem with printing PDF files was one action that caused errors and I began receiving additional errors from applications stating I did not have access to write to a configuration file or I didn't have rights to make changes to settings.

I came to the conclusion that with more oddities occurring it might be easier to just erase the hard drive and install OSX 10.7.3 again.

I did that from the partition on the hard drive and then restored my data and reinstalled my applications and I'm happy to say everything is working great and some things are much faster.
