The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it

We are getting a message "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it". What needs to be done to correct this issue. Thanks

User uploaded fileTrashing the iphotolock.data does not work for me. Yes, it says it is rebuilding the thumbnails but then this comes out. I can see my events and photos, but when I click on it only a black screen pops up. Furthermore, the option+cmd trick does not work. There is no Photo Library First Aid or options that come out. iPhoto will just restart and it's back to this screen.

I checked the iphoto library info and these are the permissions. What gives??

Anymore suggestions out there? Thanks a lot.

Hi Terence,

Yes, as mentioned, that is what I did. But only this pop up comes out:

So I click Repair, and there is a quick window that says rebuilding thumbnails or something and then my events and photos come out. And then this appears.

I click ok and then I can see all my events and photos. But when I double click on a photo, only a black screen with exclamation point comes out instead of the photo. What to do? Thanks.

Receiving this message, as others have reported :User uploaded file When I click Quit - iPhoto shuts down. When I try to reopen even while holding down alt/Command, I still get this message. I have tried a simple reboot, which has worked for others - no success. I have tried repairing permissions via the disk utility - not an available option and "repair disk" is unsuccessful. My iPhoto library is on an external hard drive, formatted corrected Mac OS extended journaled -- everything has worked just fine FOR YEARS, until I updated my iPhoto app - then this happened (I also just upgraded OS X Yosemite). I have also tried to delete the iphotolock.data - I can not directly move to trash from the folder, but I can drag it out and trash it; however, it will not delete, it is still there - won't go away. I have also tried the suggestion to "ignore permissions" on the external hard drive - not an available option. I have scoured through many posts regarding this issue and have tried almost everything (I think) except the rebuilding with the iPhoto library manager software suggested. I wanted to see if any of the easier "tricks" would work before I did that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
