Why isn't iMessage separate from the normal messages? It would be better if it was

Not all the countrys or places have excellent internet, because of that sometimes when I try to send a message through iMessage my iphone sends it like a normal one and then whenever I open the messages from that number it sends normal messages and if I want to activate the "iMessages" again I have to open a new message and wait for the iphone to see if that number is connected to imessage. Sometimes i'm in a ruch and I send normal messages thinking that they were "iMessages". Now I bought whatsapp because it works like iMessage and I know that in that app i'm always sending messages through the internet. I just think iMessage would be better it was seperate from normal messages.

But that is kind of the whole point of iMessage - it's supposed to seemlessly insert into your normal message app. If it can be sent as an iMessage it will be, but if it cannot, it still goes through using SMS (if you have that option available). But you don't need to think about "am I sending to another iOS 5 device?", or "did my cousin remember to enable iMessage on their iPhone? You just open message app like you alwasy do, send your message and iMessage or SMS will handle it, and one way or another your message gets sent.

If they were separate, and for some reason your iMessage fails, it would be really annoying to have to close the iMessage app, open Messaging, re-type the message and re-send it. The way it is, you use a single app for messaging, and the method of sending will be taken care of by the app. without you having to deal with that.

Or, you are sending to multiple people, without knowing who does or doesn't have an iMessage capable device - doesn't matter since you enter and send your message the same way regardless.
