That typically means either a bad download or you are trying to open an image file for Windows.
Have you installed "Speed Download" or anything of that sort?
no, this is almost a fresh install.
i am in a hotel for the next week. i will take my laptop to class tomorrow and try their internet connection. i'll report back what happens after that. thanks
it seems you were right. i downloaded a couple dmg files and they open fine. who would have thought. thanks a bunch for helping me figure that out. much appreciated! 😎
For me it says: No mountable file systems, Whaaaat? 😕
Hi.
Open DiskUtility / Images / Convert
choose broken file (unmountable dmg image) and convert it to "DVD/CD master"
After ends you can mount it like a charm.
thats end
so if we try to download it all over again, is it possible that it won't happen again?
The command J suggestion was extremely helpful as I then was able to see that the download was not complete, which explained why the error message occurred. Download now successful!
Apple wants to be sure that the file was downloaded from the AppStore. It's their way of handling security. So, download it from the AppStore and the problem should go away.
