iPod is a 5G 60GB iPod.
I'm in the diagnostic menu, stuck at the "Accessorize test"
it reads:
LCD=2
FW_DETECT=0
USB_DETECT=0
please plug FW
I assume FW means FireWire. I docnot have a Firewire cable. I tried pressing every button - no way to bypass the test. I had to reset the iPOd to get out.
How do you complete the diagnostic tests without a FireWire cable?
An older post here said to 'bypass' the FW test but failed to tell you just *HOW* to do so.

When in diagnostic mode then menu button is the excit from the test. If you plug in the usb cable and then cick menu, it should excit it. If you know that your usb works then when in manual mode don't run that test. The two test in diagnostic mode are auto and manual I run manual.

This is so stupid. If you run the test in AUTO and you do not have a FireWire cable attached it hangs? WIth no warning before you begin? What was Apple thinking? Who has a FW cable for a Gen5 iPod? You can't sync a Gen 5 iPod with FW, you need a USB. FW is for *CHARGING* only with the iPod Video 5th Gen devices. Brain dead.
I did run them in manual and at the RAM test it hung.
I've never been able to get a 5th gen Ipod to complete a ram test. It takes a while and I get sick of waiting. I reset an start the tests over and skid that one. Firewire will only charge if using an external charger. can't do it using your computer. It flashes a messager on the Ipod screen.
