If there's no blue arrow it's because those emails are entered in your Address Book in fields for those contacts. If there is a blue arrow, it's because those emails are only appearing because they've been recently manually entered into an outgoing email's "to" field, or because you've recently received email from those addresses. So the blue arrow gives you the option to add these addresses to a new, or existing contact, or to remove that address from appearing any longer.
The desktop Mail.app lets one edit "seen" addresses and delete them. Mobile iOS devices should allow the same.
iPad... It's the new thing. Anytime I have to use a laptop/desktop instead, iPad #fail.
Read all the posts. This has been fixed in iOS 6.
iPad has "Clear All" ; whereas Mac Mail.app allows individual e-mail inspection and deletion, so it is partially fixed at best.
Are you saying iPad on iOS 6 handles it differently
from iPhones? Because on iPhones you can now remove individual recent addresses.
The mentioned workaround exists on iPad and iPhone; however, the mentioned feature does not.
I cannot go to mail.app and review the list of "seen" addresses at all, let alone remove each invalid one from the list (like I can from a Mac).
I prefer how iOS handles it, I don't need the list. Happy to delete as necessary as I come across them.
When I find a weed in my garden, I go looking for more weeds and take care of them all, thoroughly, right then. That way I am not tripping over weeds every time I go to enjoy my garden, but only every so often, at which point after encountering enough random weeds, I "clean house."
Easy enough to let folks weed the garden whenever they want, or only when they trip over a weed.
It should be the users's choice (like on a Mac).
Thanks for the solutiuon to this. Either delete the contact entirely or just delete the email address from the contact. It then will not appear on the autofill when addressing an email.
Unfortunately factory restore does not resolve this, neither do any of the most recent iOs updates. I factory reset my iPad mini for my Mum to use, she signed in with her iCloud, having gone through the full set up as it was like a new device after the full reset. It STILL autocompletes ALL my contacts! Weirder still, her iPhone now does the same as it shares her iCloud log-in, so these ghost contacts are not in any way connected to her iCloud account, yet both her devices autocomplete them in mail. Insane. Would LOVE to know how to resolve this, obv no one can sell a device if the have confidential details on!
feature/proceedure not there iOS 7.1.2
