I opened powerpoint, and opened a recent presentation. The presentation did not appear. I went into mission control, and saw the window was there. When dragging the window into a new desktop, it simply rose to the top left (outside the desktop preview) and faded away. Look at the sequence of images, you'll see what i mean:
BTW: The first image should actually say 'Desktop 1'. I messed up in the screen shots!

The way I fixed this issue was to make sure that the powerpoint program is selected and Powerpoint visible in the top left corner of the top menu bar, then press Window -> Zoom Window, which should return the program to the current screen
What works for me is to go to Window->Arrange All.
That said, I have to do it every single time. Anybody found a way to keep PPT from doing this every single time it opens?
Go to windows bar and choose cascade. It works for me right away 🙂

Thanks, this helped me right away. Actually any way you arrange the powerpoint windows (in the windows menu) after the external monitor has been unplugged will make the trick.

I have the same problem. Does anyone know, whether it's possible to install Windows on my Mac? I'm pretty tired of the pre-installed operating system. It's not as user friendly as Windows. Thanks for your help.
Quick fix in the heat of the moment: Use CASCADE from the "window" drop down menu. After a lot of frustration I found that is a quick way to gain access to all open presentations for more editing - it "stacks" all open presentations onto the screen and you can access them quickly. I have Parallels installed on my MacbookPro and that sometimes thinks the PC is the "other screen" - even when Parallels is not launched. Hope this helps.
i use parallels - it has gotten better over the last releases.

Have powerpoint active up the top of the screen, click "Window" and then click "Zoom"

Please change the resolution of the display to a lower one and you will be able to see the Powerpoint. I had this same issue. I switched it back and all is fine again.

I've had this problem too, but all you have to do is click on the "Window" tab within the PowerPoint toolbar and select "Zoom". The powerpoint window should appear instantly.
