Powerpoint window off the screen

I opened powerpoint, and opened a recent presentation. The presentation did not appear. I went into mission control, and saw the window was there. When dragging the window into a new desktop, it simply rose to the top left (outside the desktop preview) and faded away. Look at the sequence of images, you'll see what i mean:

BTW: The first image should actually say 'Desktop 1'. I messed up in the screen shots!

The only thing that works for me is to:

1) run a presentation from slide show

2) make any kind of change to the presentation (e.g. draw on it with the pen or add notes)

3) quit powerpoint from the menu bar

4) when it asks you if you want to save it, the slide and message bar pops into the main screen. grab the whole slide and message box and drag it a bit, then click cancel and it'll stay there

In Mavericks 10.9.2 my problem appears when I have another, larger screen working and I close out Power Point from that screen. If I then open the file from my MacBookPro without the extra screen, I see Powerpoint open the file in a dialog box, but the image flies off the screen to where the original larger screen was. I do see the small PP Window in Command Center but can't move it to a command window to work. Command F1 doesn't bring it back. Going to View/Zoom Out (or In) doesn't work. Happily, View/Enter Full Screen does work!

But the view indeed goes to full screen where the window no longer acts like window that you can grab and move over. If I go to the upper right corner and bring down the hidden menu bar, and press the button of the arrows pointing at eachother, I can collapse the PP window, but it flys off screen again.

At least I can work with the file!
