What are cookies Phobos.apple.com?

I continue to get a flow of cookies from Apple such as a1165.phobos.apple.com. They all begin with an "a" and have 3 or 4 numbers, then the Phobos.apple.com.

The cookies can get deleted by me and they keep returning, adding more each day with the most being twelve. This seems to have started recently. The only new app I have added has been Crunch?

Any ideas what these cookies from Apple are for? I have the cookie setting to only sites visited.

I have have apps updated via the phone every week. Just had one app with two updates in as many days.

When an app is updated within the iPad, iPhone, or Mac using either iTunes, those pesky files show up. On the Mac you will also see the older file that was replaced in the trash.

I purge those files every few weeks as there will be at least 10-20 phobos files in the list.

Mbarnes I think you hit the nail on the head. I just found the same things in my ex's phone a few months back. There was even some type of site called Pastebin where you could hide private sex chats. He accessed sites like:

xvideos.com

localmilfselfies.com

backpage.com

escortbabylon.net.

mobile.localmilfselfies.com

forum.xnxx.com

hoxnif.com

datingframe.com

adultsearch.com

mobile.4inches4weeks.com

mycasualmilf.net

After accessing those sites, the following phobos showed up in the phone:

a375.phobos.apple.com

a395.phobos.apple.com

a212.phobos.apple.com

a1947.phobos.apple.com

a414.phobos.apple.com
