Will my 1st gen iPad stream to the Apple TV?

I've looked at the apple TV over the past 2 years and it was always my understanding, according to the specs, it would stream my first gen iPad and play on the TV. Is this true or must I have the iPad 2?

iPad, iOS 5.0.1

You can stream from a first-generation iPad from any app that supports AirPlay. You cannot, however, mirror the screen.That feature does require an iPad 2. For more information, see:
