That is where it gets iffy. Thats hardware, but what about software?

If by adding your own code/software into an Apple product, you cause problem; is Apple liable to fix it?
I would say that since Apple basically says no, it is up to them. Whether or not Apple will fix your iPod if a problem comes, I can't really say.
