Rain Design iLap 15W - will it fit the MBP?

It fits, it is slightly too big for the Powerbook, so I'd imagine that the MacBook Pro fits on it. Besides the feet are too close inside to do anything to your MacBook. The iLap also comes with HUGE silicon feet if you would like to place those if you don't think the ones on the MacBook fit well enough for you.

(haha this prolly makes no sense)

I just received my MBP (WooHoo!). Rain Design's site recommended the 15W, but I opted for the 15 PC because the MBP's specs were .5 inches wider than the 15W.
Definately glad I got the larger 15 PC. The MBP sits about 1/8 inside the edge of the iLap (perfect) and about 3/4 of an inch in the back (no big deal and I have long legs).
You could give it a shot. They may take take it back, though.

I just ordered a 15W myself, here are the measurements:

Full width of MBP: bit over 14"
Outer edges of rubber feet: bit under 13.5"
Depth: bit under 9.5"

So I think it will fit fine!

I actually emailed Rain Design and asked about this, and they recommended the 15W. Here is what they said in response to my question:

"Thank you for your inquiry. At this point we do not have plans to make an
iLap for the MacBook Pro. However, we recommend the iLap 15" Widescreen
made for the Apple Powerbook for the MacBook Pro. The specs for the iLap
15" W is Width: 13.5" and Depth 9.5", which is the closest to the MacBook
Pro's dimension. Let us know if we can assist you further. Have a great
day!"


(I realize this doesn't really answer your question, but I thought I'd post what Rain Design had to say. In my original email, I had asked if they are going to make an iLap model specifically for the MBP.)

I emailed Rain Design with the same question before I bought mine, and got the same response.

But I figured I would want it ever so slightly bigger, rather than smaller.

RickD: Very good point...it might fit better on a slightly larger iLap. If anyone who has received their MBP gets (or has) an iLap, please let us know the size and how it fits.

I did receive both the iLap 15 PC and my MacBook Pro and it fits great! Note my above post.

Just in case your really paranoid, I was wondering too, so I cut out a cardboard piece that was the dimensions of a MacBook based on what was on the Apple website, & it fits EXACTLY. It will be fine.

(if you want me to post pictures forreal, i will too...haha just ask)

I'm actually considering purchasing one of these iLaps because I'm getting a MacBook Pro in about 3 weeks. So, if you could post up this picture you have, I'd give you a huge cookie. 😀

Theres more than one, but my "MacBook" is funny, its the right dimensions, but I drew the trackpad & stuff for fun...sell on eBay? Yes.

Oh, I'm so confused now! So Chris - you got the 15W and it fits perfectly... But someone else got the 15PC and it also fits perfectly?

I'm thinking about getting an iLap too, so I've been keeping track of this post, but now I'm not entirely sure what to do. So your MBP "feet" fit on the surface okay? They're not so close to the edge that they're slipping off?
