I have scanned a wedding program cover. When I place it in the viewer in FCE the wording looks sharp and clear. however, when I place it in the canvas it becomes very grainy and unclear. I have scanned it at very pixels but still the results are the same. I am thinking about taking a picture of the cover. Will this help?

Is it fully rendered in the Timeline? Note that the Viewer shows clips/images at their native resolution, but the Canvas shows them at the resolution of the Sequence. For example, if you're working in a 720x480 Sequence and your image (or clip) resolution is higher than that, of course it will look sharper in the Viewer.

The sequence set at DV NTSC 48 khz.
When rendered the image looks to the same.
I meant to say scaneed at various pixel sizes i.e. 200, 300, 600
The plaback quality is full.
No matter what I do, I cannot match the Viewer quality. Is there anything else I can do?
If you're editing in a DV Sequence, the quality will not be the same as the original. DV is lower resolution than the original and there's just no way around that.
