How to cut the large audio file to small file?

Hi, I found my iTunes refuse to sync my audio files into my iPhone. Then realized that thet might be too large, all around 10MB a piece. Would like to know what is the best and easy way to cut the big files into smaller mp3 files in order to mainly use them on iTunes with my iPhone 3G and Mac OS X SL,10.6.8.

Thank you very much.

Li,

Don't try to change the 24 kbps files into anything. Instead, start again with the original (big) file and make new small ones.

If your splitter program has settings that allow this, you can use it.

Otherwise, use the iTunes technique that I mentioned before. If you are going to use iTunes, then before you start, go into your Import Settings, choose MP3 Encoder with Custom setttings, and set Bit Rate to 64.

Li,

Glad you are finding it useful.

My original files are 24kbps. So can I use the iTune tech to do what you had instructed and go for 64kbps?

Yes. In the iTunes method, you need to set the bit rate and sample rate in preferences in advance. In the Import Settings, choose "MP3 Encoder" and then a "setting" of "Custom." This brings up a dialog where you can request a Bit Rate and Sample Rate. Save your settings. Then, any time you use "Create MP3 Version," you will get output with those settings.

Do a few files to start, make sure they sync properly, and when you are convinced that all is working well, do the rest that you need.

When you are done with this project, put the Import Settings back to normal, as the ones you will be using for your spoken-word files will be way too low for decent music quality.

I made it!!! I am able to convert the files to 64kbp and stereo and sync into iPhone. I am so so so happy!

Thank you so very much. You saved my life. Really appreciated.

Now I have to go rest and tomorrow will convert, split, organize and sync all of them, that will be around 37x10 file. The Splitter is very easy to use but they only cut one big files into 3, maxim, so need to do the double cuts.

I could not say enough thank you.
