i cant create a new image using disc utility (input output error) even though verify disk says its ok. what is wrong?

the ~5 gb image was created from a dvd source, if that's what you're asking. i'll get back to you when i find a dvd whose image size is similar to the one that failed.
would having part of the disk's contents protected by copy protection be the reason for why i can only copy/image 86% of the disk before it stops?

is there a way to image just the items that are not copy protected while leaving everything else alone?
Only way I know would be to try the30 day free trial of Tri-Backup that seems to copy& not stop at errors, later giving you more options to copy...

my post was deleted from this thread, but i'm thinking it was moved to that discussion. my deleted post had to do with the results of using tri-backup. since it was deleted, i guess it's taboo to discuss it here.
Might not've been you, the whole thread's been deleted for some reason, & not likely Tri-Backup, which I've been using since 8.6 or maybe 9.0, so try posting your TB question here!

It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake.
Which by inference & experience tells me it's gone... they don't really delete it, just marked it off limits to eveybody. 🙂
