Movies missing in ipad 2. They show up in mac itunes ipad device

Hi All,

I recently purchased an ipad 2.

I converted some movies to .m4v format via Handbrake with several different presets for ipad, this is, several settings, and afterwards, I transferred them to itunes in my macbook.

Then, I connected my ipad to the macbook. I synced the movies (selecting the ones I wanted to transfer, this is, not syncronizing all), I also tried dragging them to the ipad device in itunes. So far so good, they appeared in the ipad device in itunes in the macbook.

Afterwards, I disconnected the ipad from macbook but the movies do not show up anywhere.

So, they have to be somewhere since they appear in the itunes while connected to the macbook.

Does anyone know why in Videos App there are no videos? Am I the only one with this frustrating behaviour?

Thank you very much for your help.

Sorry. No solutions here. I just wanted to agree I'm seeing this problem on my iPad 1 (running iOS 5.1). In iTunes all my movies & TV shows appear on the iPad, but stuff disappears when I disconnect. Originally, I didn't have anything in my video library. I switched to manually managing videos, which didn't fix it. But then I switched back to syncing videos, and now I have my movies but NOT the TV shows. Still can see all the TV shows listed in iTunes, but when I disconnect, the TV shows tab is missing at the top of my iPad video library, the shows aren't mixed in with the movies, and they're not in with photos.

I had this same issue, working with m4v files that I could play via iTunes Home Sharing on my iPad, but when I tried to sync them, I couldn't see them inside of Videos.

Turned out my video files (TV episodes in this case) had the "Part of a Compliation" checkbox checked in iTunes (Right click on the file and get info, then look at the Info tab). Once I unchecked this box and removed and re-added the files, they showed up instantly on the iPad!!! Very strange, hopefully this helps someone else.
