My music just stops in the middle! Both iTunes and iPhone

I have a problem in both iTunes and iPhone when playing music. On iTunes, a song will suddenly stop in the middle and go on to the next song. On iPhone, the audio for the song will stop in the exact same place as on iTunes, but the timer will continue to tick as if the song is still playing, and the phone still shows as being in play mode. The remaining time will tick away in silence and then the next song starts normally. This always happens at the same point in the affected songs. This only happens with purchased music, but only with some purchased music, not all. All music was legitimately purchased. This only began happening after I updated my phone to iOS 5.

ITunes 10.5.3.3 and iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1.

If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

iPhone 4, iOS 5.0.1

I'm having this problem as well since upgrading to Sierra. I've had a enormous problems with iTunes Match (which worked OK by itself) and iMusic compatibility since adding iMusic services ( Albums missing, songs missing, coming and going, downloaded Albums disappearing from my iPhone, etc.) But, This is a new problem I believe starting with Sierra. Downloaded music on my iPhone pauses while playing back through the cars Bluetooth. Apple says there may be VW patch for my car's Fender stereo! But also songs stop playing on my iMac with nothing else running. I've turned off Notifications, etc., Reloaded Sierra, reloaded My iTunes library, spent mutilple hours with Apple Support. I'm getting ready to look for a new music player and give up on iTunes and I music altogether.

Thanks, it's comforting to know I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. I can't get a straight answer from Apple on whether I need to keep my iTunes Match subscription any longer with the Family share iMusic. Originally they were 2 separate and distinct libraries ( iMusic has DRM protection on the files And Match library didn't). They (now) state on the Web site "Your iCloud Music Library can also contain songs from your Apple Music membership. If you're an Apple Music member, you don't need to subscribe to iTunes Match unless you still need to access your music on an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd Generation)."

It's interesting to note that my music plays back fine from my first generation Apple TV without pausing, but it can't play on my quad core 2011 (12, 2) 27 inch iMac! Go figure. I'm planning to add an SSD Kit to the iMac with an OWC kit, that way I don't have to purchase anything from Apple.

Sounds like it might just be cprrupted music files. Try deleting one of the affected songs in itunes (make sure to remove it to the recycle bin/trash) and redownload it by going to the itunes store home page and clicking on the 'Purchased' quick link on the right. Locate the song in there and click the cloud icon to redownload it. If it plays fine, do the same thing for all other affected songs.

To correct the phone, once you've fixed all the files in itunes, connect the phone and click on it when it appears under devices on the left. In the screen that appears, click on the music tab. Uncheck the 'Sync music' box and hit apply, then recheck the box and apply again. This should put the new, working music files into the phone as well.

How can you possibly know whether it's "bad advice"?

It's a strange "playback problem" that's affecting the same songs at the same points on two different devices!

In any case it is a simple enough diagnostic process to delete one of the affected songs, redownload it and see if that works. Whether your arrogance can be so easily fixed is something else again.....

I bought two music videos yesterday that are doing this, stopping at a specific point everytime but with the progress bar continuing, regardless of device.

I tried redownloading from iTunes, (one of them). The redownloaded copy stops at a different point a few seconds away.

I have been using iTunes and purchasing videos for at least 5 years and this has never happend before.

I recently purchased an Apple TV. So my first guess would be that it has something to do with Apple TV or Airplay. Does anyone/everyone else in this thread have an Apple TV

Hmmm, another possibility could be 10.6 - 10.7 incompaitibility. I have in iMac on 10.6 and a MBP on 10.7. Anyone else?

Because this thread started in May and doesn't have many contributors, it seems to be rather obscure. Or are there other threads?
