How come I'm now getting this error. The only thing that has changed is the expiry date on my cc which I did update in my account but iTunes is not accepting my card as a valid method.

If you're getting the following message "your payment method is not valid in this store. please enter a new payment method"

It's so easy to solve it

If you're using an iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Go to settings
  2. Tap on iTunes & App Store
  3. On the top, Tap on Apple ID
  4. Tap on View Apple ID
  5. Enter your password
  6. Click on Country/Region
  7. Click on the country that you want to use it's credit card
  8. Update your address to match the credit card address
  9. Complete your purchase
  10. Done 🙂

If you find this helpful please give me a star. Thank you all

Hi everyone, this is how it worked for me

First go to App Store on your device,

drag down to the bottom until you see "Apple ID: ........."

press on it and choose "View Apple ID", will transfer you to the Account page.

My Country/Region was set to Bulgaria, I'm in UK 😁. Basically I was giving UK address and postcode from my Debit Card but the country was different.

Press and change it, then press NEXT and Agree with Terms and Conditions etc.

One last thing, because my country was set to Bulgaria, App Store was Bulgarian too. To change it to UK I did "Turn On Genius for Apps" and then it switched me to UK store.

If this is a security breach of ANY kind then we should be told as soon as possible. Many of us will have tried different cards with most of the data needed to use them.

Come on Apple a quick note on here to reassure us we don't have compromised cards is the least you can do ... if they are compromised then tell us so we can cancel them!

Thank you jim4ewa, it worked!!!

I set up my appleID while still in the UK - but I'd moved to Australia and just couldn't figure it out. I changed my billing address successfully to Australia online using my laptop but on my iPhone it just kept coming up with the same 'your payment method is not valid for this store' message - and it kept asking for 'County' - and saying my Aussie postcode was 'not valid'. Was going crazy for a while! Saw your post, did exactly what you said and the page asking for payment details changed from 'county' to 'state. Et voila - all apps now installing successfully. 🙂
