you can achieve this by doing the following :

Sign in the APP store / itunes via the new ipad with the apple ID the purchases are currently exist on and download tohse purchases apps, once installed, you can successfully enjoy those apps with your new apple ID but you require authorization from the other account aka password. Though she does not have to tell the password, she can merely enter it for you, and then sign out after she is done.

hope this solves your problem

I am rather upset by the implication we want to steal. My husband and I have a joint bank account. I bought all apps under his id. I should obviously have used my own, but we have happily shared apps on our iphones. We were not to know that you would change the rules. Now he wants his id for email only and I want all the apps - he does not want the apps! He won't be using them any more.

Pretty much the same sitation we have. Nobody is asking to steal anything, we don't want 2 licenses, we are simply asking to 'transfer' the purchases/licenses to another ID.

I like digital content and I pay for it, but if DRM starts to get in the way of common sense then I will simply bypass it and nobody will get my $points.

That's a nice suggestion NMJH, but it really doesn't transfer ownership of the apps.

I've been wondering about this question myself. Someday Apple may provide for this kind of transaction, but there's nothing available to us now.

It used to be that if your hard drive crashed and you lost all your purchased music you had one oportunity from the support staff at Apple to re-download all songs that were still available on the store at no charge. That was a one-time deal only and now Apple lets you re-download all your purchased music yourself as many times as you want, as long as the device is assigned to your Apple ID.

It may be just a matter of time before Apple allows for the combining of Apple IDs which would allow people who have purchased downloads from iTunes with multiple Apple IDs to combine all those purchases into a single account. It could also help people like me who have one Apple ID for purchasing stuff and a mobile me Apple ID that just has iCloud data to combine those accounts into a single Apple ID. If that utility ever materializes that could be used to transfer the purchases like the OP asked. In my opinion, Apple is more likely to focus on the combining of accounts than it is to provide a solution for the transfer of purchases.

I really hope they think about allowing it sooner than later. Corporates start using paid for apps and pay from a single account assigned to a single technician. They don't transfer but buy each app for each device. So apps purchsed by the user and corporate apps ends up on the same device. Imagine 6000 employees calling on the techie for each update, remember he can't hand out that password. They will ether have to think of a transfer and delete mechanism and/or allow purchase on behalve of an existing account.

I have basically the same quesiton BUT I work in a school district and have been integrating mobile devices into the schools. Many accounts have been created but now we're starting a system where each school will have their own itunes account and I would like to transfer the apps purchased by the school that I work at from another school account to the one we will be using permanently now. No stealing, I just want to have the apps that my school has purchased and uses to our new school itunes account. These particular apps are already on and being used by mobile devices in my school legally.

It would be no different that if a couple in a home each have an iPad and each has their own iTunes accounts with their own Apple ID. They too can't share Apps.

Actually, they can. One iPad can support apps purchased from multiple IDs. One iTunes on one login on one computer can support apps purchased from multiple IDs. The only requirement is that the user know the passwords for all of the IDs.

I have a slightly different problem which might require the same solution but i am not sure. I have had the same apple ID for about 4 years and apple only gives you 4 licenses per ID. Meaning i can install iTunes and use my ID on 4 computers. Well over the years i got a new desktop, got a new laptop and had it installed on my parents computer. I now want to install iTunes on my new laptop but i have no licenses left. I have spent $100's on apps and cannot afford to lose them all. I want to keep the same account if i can. As i can see transferring them to a new ID is a bit of a challenge. Is there a way to get extra licenses or do i have to set up a new ID and follow the advice in this thread?

Cheers

Andy
