Microtek Scanmaker 5700 & OS X 10.4

I have a Mac G5 running OS X 10.4. I have a scanner that I used with my iMac and I'm hoping I can use it with my new Mac as well. The manufacturer doesn't have a driver out for 10.4, but is there some way to get the scnner to work int the classic environment? I tried installing the driver, but I get a message that say "access denied". Please advise, I can't seem to find anything in the user guide or on the net about this.
