Difference between AT&T and Verizon iPad 4G

Is there anything fundamentally different in terms of hardware between the AT&T and Verizon iPad? I'm aware that once you choose one you're unable to use the other, but is that a software configuration or a hardware restriction?

The iPhone differed in that the AT&T was a GSM model while the Verizon was a CDMA model. The CDMA model cannot be used internationally. (Is this conceptually similar to the iPad differences?) Since I'm not a US citizen and want to be able to use the new iPad in my own country's 4G network, I would like to know whether I'm confined to the option of buying an AT&T iPad to ensure that the 4G LTE connectivity works at home too.

Apple seems to make it clear that each iPad is capable of connecting to any network up to 4G LTE... but is more ambiguous about the differences between the AT&T and Verizon versions. I would like to seek some clarification before commiting to buying an iPad that wouldnt work on international 4G networks!

iPad, iOS 5.0.1, the latest iPad, not the first-gen.

Its not a cdma sim card its the 4G LTE technology on verizon that is sim card based. So basically with the new verizon ipad one can access 4G through the sim card in the US and also 3G EVDO through the extra cdma radio. If you do not want verizon then one can just swap the 4G SIM card for any of the GSM/UMTS micro-SIM cards.

So as far I can understand from the specs at apple website this time it looks like verizon model definitely has the edge since that one lets you access verizon 4G, 3G and the ability to use GSM/UMTS/EDGE internationally too if you do not want to pay roaming by just swapping out the sim card. ATT model will only let you use 4G/UMTS/GSM/Edge but no EVDO. So in a nutshel:

VZW model: 4G LTE+CDMA/EVDO+GSM+UMTS+EDGE

ATT model: 4G LTE+GSM+UMTS+EDGE

As long as the models are not carrier locked verizon model definitly works better in the US and now has the same technology access internationally that ATT used to previously have.

It differs only on what you will call it. It is a sim card enabling CDMA based 4G network and often these cards are called UIM card (if I remember correctly). It has been reported that after jailbreak, Verizon Iphone4s can accept sim (UIM) card from a Taiwan carrier which is based on CDMA technolodgy.

my New Apple iPad (3rd Generation) AT&T 4G LTE model working 100% perfectly here in Moscow, Russia with any of local Russian GSM-Cellular 3G network Beeline/Megafon/MTS.

since Verizon is basically CDMA Network. Though the New Apple iPad (3rd Generation) Verizon 4G LTE model providing GSM-Cellular 3G network services.

Whether the New Apple iPad (3rd Generation) Verizon 4G LTE model will work in Moscow, Russian or any other worldwide GSM-Cellular 3G network other than Verizon in USA..???

Eagerly looking forward to the exact correct information.

Yes, it will work. The AT&T iPad 3 and Verizon iPad 3 are identical. The only difference is that one comes wtih a pre-loaded Verizon LTE SIM and the other comes with an AT&T 3G SIM. That's all. I travel the globe for work and I have been able eto use my Verizon iPad in many countries with no issue. Since the iPads come unlocked you can just go to any 3G provider, buy a prepaid SIM, plug it in, and voila! You have Internet on your iPad and you will be able to tether your other devices to it too.
