iTunes 10.6 crashing after upgrade

I just upgraded iTunes to 10.6, but it crashes everytime I open it.

I'm under Snow Leopard (10.6.8).

Thanks in advance for any suggestion or solution.

My iPhone 4s got completely wiped out (all contacts and calendars GONE) when I did my usual USB synch with outlook 2007. Ironically - my music and my photos are still there. But not a single phone # except the 4 that were in my "favorites" -ugh... If it reinstall 10.5 it won't work with my iPhone as that was upgraded to iOS 5.0. Anyone having this issue?

Hey everybody.

I was one of those people who couldn't even get iTunes to launch after upgrading to 10.6. It would open and two second later it would crash. I also have never upgraded to the new version of iPhoto and still use 8.1.2.

Well, just reporting that I upgraded to iTunes 10.6.1 today and it seems to have resolved all my problems. iTunes launches, I can sync my iOS devices, and seem to be able to use all the aspects of iTunes (album art, iTunes Match, etc.).

Hope everyone else has a similar experience. Good luck to you all!

If I downgraded from iTunes 10.6 to 10.5.3 because of the crashes, do I now need to reinstall 10.6 in order to then upgrade to 10.6.1, or can I proceed directly from 10.5.3 to 10.6.1?

Also just a comment for those who questioned the importance of this issue: because I update my calendars across 3 devices with iTunes, it has actually become one of the most important pieces of business software I use.

I had been fortunate with the 10.6 upgrade and did not experience the crashing that others had. However I did notice one anomaly that began in using 10.6 and has continued in 10.6.1. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I like to use Cover Flow to display artwork on my monitor while music is playing back. In Cover Flow view there is a 'standard view' where you see the cover artwork and information on the songs below that and then there is an icon in the lower right corner that expands the screen to a 'full view" where only the cover artwork is seen. I use this full screen view.

What now occurs that never did before is when in 'full screen' Cover Flow view after each song in an album or a playlist the view 'collapses' back to the 'standard view' rather than remainig in the 'full view'. Any ideas on how to correct this or is is just a bug introduced in 10.6 that continues in 10.6.1?

Nobodyknowsimadog, I upgraded directly from 10.5.3 to 10.6.1. (Had previously downgraded to 10.5.3 as many others here had)

The 10.6.1 upgrade has fixed my original issues with 10.6 (mine wasn't to do with photos, as some others were, nor the problem with cover artwork size. Just crashing immediately after connecting iOS device and clicking on it in iTunes.)

Hooray!

Folks,

Read the posts before posting! Nobody here should be complaining about 10.6 because 10.6.1 is out and it looks like it solves all the crash problems. Yes you can upgrade directly from 10.5.3 or earlier. As always I recommend the standalone installer at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ And it is now time for this thread to die a graceful death...
