iTunes 10.6 crashes every time on full screen movies
Take any movie, start playing in a small window. Click on the full screen arrows and kaboom - crash.
Apple's software QA is atrocious and discouraging.

Same here. I cannot full screen a video if started in a small screen. If I maximize it before the video starts, I'm ok. If I minimize it, it will minimize, but crash on full screen again.
It just started crashing for me today with Mad Men. Seeing that I am paying Apple to watch these tv shows, I expect they should work.
Everything was GREAT before I updated!!!
I finially got a complaint back from apple about the shows I paid for not working. They said I should just download the most recent version of itunes. So they are either liars or clueless.
I had the same problem. Then I changed the view from grid to album list or song list and iTunes stopped crashing. Wierd, huh? I did not try with cover flow. Try it and see.
Yes weird. It did not work for me. I changed to Album view, started a TV episode then clicked on Full Screen to expand and CRASH Quit.
I can just drag the lower right corner of the screen out to full screen size but I cannot isolate the video to iTunes only so that I don't see the desktop or other programs behind the video window. As soon as I click on the expand to full screen - instant crash quit!
Does anyone know where to register a problem with Apple – email address? As many have mentioned here, I don't think Apple decision makers read these forums. I'm also pretty sure they know about it and will fix at their own convenience or when they get enough complaints.
So the best thing to do might be to use expresslane and demand your money back for any tv shows or movies that won't work in full screen. I doubt they will pay attention otherwise.
Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
• Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
• Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
• Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
• Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.
SUCCESS! Fixed. Thanks so much for posting this. I try to check Software Update frequently but I did not see this one. You'd think Apple would make this more widely known but whatever… so glad they took care of this quickly.
🙂 excellent news! Glad things are working properly for you again, and many thanks for reporting back with your resolution.
I am updating right now... lets see what happens
10.6.1 works for me!! No crashes on full screen video.
