"the last backup could not be completed"

I noticed my iPhone 3GS has stopped backing up (It is connected to a power source and has WiFi connection).

I tried to manually back up to iCloud, but I get the following message after several minutes; "the last backup could not be completed."

Today, I restored my iPhone and downloaded iOS 5.1. I still have the same issue. I deleted the old backup in iCloud and tried it again - and still the same message.

Any ideas how to solve this?

HI, same thing happened to me and many of the instruction on the internet and this blog and none of them worked,

The most efficient way to solved this problem is as describe bellow.

1- Open your Iphone in Itunes and backup to the computer.

2- Go to your iPhone and go Setting, General, Reset and go with Erase All Content and Settings

3- After the above step, go Backup from Computer.

Some of the apps you installed will not be downloaded but that is no problem you know what to do,

As for the rest you will not loose any of the messages, Contacts o any of the things that we always

think we are going to lose.

Hello, I had to call Apple Support recently, because I still cannot backup to I-cloud using my Iphone 6. Tried all kinds of things. The Sr. Advisor with Apple escalated the problem to engineering. I hope they will fix the problem. I am still waiting since April 04, 2016. It is now April 12. How did you get them to handle your case so fast? I am still waiting for a response. Called and left several messages, but no response.
