Not enough RAM, not powerful enough processor or gpu.
It is not going to happen.
I didn't find out about the utility until last night. Of course I had requested a refund on my iphoto purchase. The app was still on my laptop so I tried installing it and it works just fine. However, now it says I need to reauthorize or lose it. Guess I'll have to repurchase it. $5 is no ball breaker.
So after fining out it worked I took a gamble and bought iMovie as well. Installed and runs just fine. Happy camper I am right now! :-)
BTW ipad 1, running 5.1 and NOT jailbroken.
Reauthorizing really won't do anything. You will get that note every time you try to sync when you have iPhoto or iMovie on a first gen iPad...
Yes, I saw the comments on the link in Waylon's post. Not a major issue for me. I'm fine with that. There is a workaround for it.
I just noticed that iMovie now syncs fine with the original iPad... not sure what happened, but it's welcome...
Thanks iphoto works perfectly on my 1st gen iPad, iPhoto on ios is simply amazing but why have apple blocked it from working on the iPad 1 if it clearly does function and the iPad 1 has enough ram/CPU for the task, I don't understand apples decision on this.
It is just the progression of hardware and software. Even though it obviously works on iPad 1; it most likely will not work to it's capacity. It's called having the right tool for the job. Sure you can pound a nail with a pipe wrench but is that what it was designed for or is it even adequate. Apple and it's developers have the responsibility to design new apps and new hardware, it would be a logistical nightmare to make new software to work across a muriad of hardware profiles, especially if those hardware profiles are less than optimal. Just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should.
My 2 cents for what it's worth
I don't see blocking a really cool app from working on my iPad as a progression, and I've I idea what you mean by hardware profiles interfering with it, an iPad 1 is an iPad 1 right the pipe wrench metaphor doesn't hold true also as my friend has an iPad 2 and side by side iPad 1 running iPhoto there is no difference whatsoever.
Rubbish! It runs perfectly fine on my original iPad. Slower than my iP4s, but it runs. Not everybody wants a HSV when they're happy with a Astra.
