iOS 5.1 Batterydrain issue/problem

Hello,

after having the feeling the Battery is sucked out by the new iOS, the problem is still there in 5.0.1.

And now in 5.1 its getting more worse. Even my girlfriend mentiond it.

So i am carefully asking the community: Are you experiencing the same batterydrain that was mentioned before, but now even worse than before?

I have the same feeling. IOS 5.1is a failure to me. Before upgrading to it , I used 5.0.1 and it usually drained 3% of battery standby over night with fully charged before the night. But now I upgraded to 5.1. I standby for whole night without touching it as usual, it drains 4% of battery. This is not a big deal. But the weird thing is that the usage shows that I have been using it for more than 1hour. I wonder when I have used it for so long time. Before sleeping. I just used about ten minutes. Who used my phone for an additional hour? And now I'm using it. It drains battery faster than before.

I'm glad to see someone else posting this. I've had no problems with my 4s until this morning when I did the new upgrade. In less than 5 hours at work, I went from 80% to 15% and that was just a little web use on Wi-Fi. I always keep bluetooth off and most location services turned off as well. If this was considered a "fix" someone needs their head examined.

I also saw something weird as heck too - a 4g sign up where the wireless indicator is at...

You know, in that case, Blue Shooter, maybe the battery is draining so quickly, because the charging cycle is off kilter.

Maybe the battery has not been completely drained for calibration, or the charging cycle has been interrupted.

There's something about it in the manual, I read a while back, and I did have to plug in to down load the update, and then I interrupted that charge.

So if that's the case, the battery problem should clear up after a few charging cycles!

Thanks for the idea! Let's hope it's that simple!

Gotta go charge up soon. I'm down to 5%.

One thing I have noticed is that CPU usage can be quite high following a reboot, especially after an iOS update. I have seen elevated CPU usage for something like 1 or 2 hours. This happens on every iOS update I've performed since iOS 3.x. I can only guess that iOS performs a bunch of post-update cleanup and setup.

You can look at CPU usage by downloading any one of several monitoring apps. Though most of the apps will list running processes, they, unfortunately, will not list CPU usage for each process. Still, knowing what the overall CPU usage is can be helpful in finding the culprit app or feature through trial and error.

Anyway, before anyone declares iOS 5.1 a failure with regard to battery drain, give the phone at least a couple of hours to settle down before doing any measurements. Better yet, keep the phone plugged in during this time.

That's how my phone use I be till I updated to iOS 5.1

But it also depends how much signal you have and if you have 3G

The first time I updated to ios 5.1 my battery was horrible it didn't even last me a full day I don't think half a day

When I first updated it lasted me

1 hour of usage

And

5 hour ion standby

And it died

And I had my phone fully charged when I woke up

But now since I restored it it's gotten better
