iOS 5.1 Batterydrain issue/problem

Hello,

after having the feeling the Battery is sucked out by the new iOS, the problem is still there in 5.0.1.

And now in 5.1 its getting more worse. Even my girlfriend mentiond it.

So i am carefully asking the community: Are you experiencing the same batterydrain that was mentioned before, but now even worse than before?

People keep giving battery saving solutions but that is not the issue. With iOS 5.0 battery life was terriable. Apple quickly fixed it with 5.01. Now with 5.1 battery life is back to terrible. I could go at least two days without a charge. After the update (and all my patterns and behaviors being the same), I don't even get a full day! Apple needs to fix this! Or allow us to go back to iOS 5.01.

I don't see what I can do any different though. For example, I have spent 10 mins on Facebook and BBC news apps and my battery dropped 10%. I have spent over 15mins flicking through forums and pages on this website and I have dropped 1%. My drain is also incredibly high when I am not using it. I lost 30% of battery in 4hrs this afternoon. Before update I could leave phone for days like that. It's no my phone Use behaviour that's the problem, it's something to do with the OS upgrade.

I have a 3-day-old iPhone 4S that had rapid battery drain on standby. I tried turning off Time Zone location services and the location services of a few apps that didn't seem to need them. No difference. Then tried (1) "Reset All Settings", then (2) in iTunes I restored the phone from a previous backup. iTunes asked me to Register the phone again, and the phone went through the setup steps of a new phone even though it already had email accounts, apps, etc. After that, I am still losing about 5% per hour on standby. So that equals one tenth of Apple's claim. Now I will try a restore as a new phone, not from a backup, which will take time and labor. Then I will return the phone for a new one, although there are no available Genius appointments for the next week. What a waste of time.

I got some real improvement with my new 4S by doing a Restore as a New Phone, not from any backup. To make this less time consuming, I took screenshots of all the home screens before the Restore so I could use iTunes later to put apps back in their previous arrangement. Before the clean restore I was losing 6-7% per hour on standby. After, about 1% per hour. However, I need to test some more. I suspect wifi, and if so, the handset is probably faulty. The 4S model in general seems to have worse battery life than the 4.

Yes, indeed. Last week, I got the 4s and gave my 4 to my SO. The difference is quite apparent. I have everything possible turned off on the 4s and am losing 10% probably each hour. WIth the 4 I had a lot of notifications on, etc., and could get a whole lot of time. I plan to do a side by side comparison over the weekend.

after u fully charge it and go to sleep make sure u close all apps by double clicking the home button. i noticed that when i leave the apps on battery drains way faster. i had 5.0.1 and the battery life was horrible, after i upgrade to 5.1 which said might resolve battery issues is still the same. i wish they can come up with an iphone that has the battery life of a nokia !

Just a question for all people with battery drain issue after iOS 5.1 update. Does your usage and stand-by times from last charge match? Mine are an exact match. So my 4S is running even after I lock the screen. I have 50% less battery life since the update. Any suggestions besides the usual hard reset/restore/notifications/etc. I have tried all of them.
