iTunes Match doesn't allow album artwork changes in the cloud

Hi

I've got this issue since i've got iTunes Match this february. Whenever i change an artwork for a song or album, these changes aren't done in the cloud. This means, when i access iTunes with the same account from another computer, these same files still have got the old artwork. I've also tried deleting the files and redownloading them again, but also these files still contain the old artwork.

And yes, i've updated iTunes to the latest version (10.6). 😉

Just updated to iTunes 11, and of course i directly tried to change an artwork of one of my artworks.

--> THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT FIXED!

The artwork switched back to the old one about 30 minutes after i made the changes.

[sarcasm] But hey, now at least the artwork switches back already 30 minutes after having made changes, and not only about a day afterwards. [/sarcasm]

I can't describe in words how much fail this is. The apple difference?

I can also confirm that this issue is still not fixed in iTunes 11.

I have now been a paying customer of iTunes Match for almost a year (subscribed on day one) and I have not been able to use the service properly as I am unable to change any of the low resolution artwork I previously had in iTunes. This means that my artwork looks terrible on my HD tv connected to my Apple TV.

COME ON APPLE SORT THIS !!!!

Bump.

I've just spent 2 days tidying up my artwork and filling the empty space. Not a single change is visible on any other devices. What a waste of time that was! Please please please can we have a function to update the artwork on Match?

I can't just delete all the files from Match and add them again, there are far too many and my connection is too slow. It's just not an option.

So far iTunes 11 has annoyed far more that I should let software annoy me. It's been slow, crashed a lot, and misses features like this.

Hi C10B,

I agree it is very frustrating that such an easy workflow is not working. But if (almost) your whole local library has changed I recommend to do the remove and re-add to iCloud steps partly (e.g. start with all albums start with A).

Yes I know it will take time to do so, I did it that way and it needs some days. But what I really think is: Apple will not fix this bug. You ask why? The answer is simple: When you bought music from the iTunes Store the cover is already optimized for iTunes. When you have a mixed mp3 library like me and you use iTunes Match, then - and only then - you will have the need to change the covers. For me "the journey of frustation" starts with the need to change the covers as I mentioned the missing cover-art at my iPhone5 in coverflow mode and at my AppleTV.

Of course apple needs to fix this bug. iTunes match is a not a free service, therefore all functionalities of the local library also have to be functional in the library stored in the cloud. It is just very immodest by apple not to have fixed this problem, and not even have made a statement that they acknowledge the error and that they are working on it. The bug be better fixed soon, if not i'm not gonna stay a customer of iTunes for very long, now that microsoft has launched a good competitor with Xbox music.

He thebaze,

maybe we have luck and get the fix. Since Walt Mossberg also recognize that something is wong with iTunes and the cover-art:

Walt Mossberg:

In my tests, some album covers were missing in album view. Apple says this is a rare bug, but one it has solved and will fix in a minor update soon.

Ok, because i use iTunes Match on multiple devices as well.

I contacted the apple support, and they suggested to turn off iTunes Match temporarily on all devices but a single one: the one where you're gonna make the artwork changes. Then, after having done the artwork change, update iTunes Match and then, only then, reactivate iTunes Match on the othe devices as well. I can't access my second computer at the moment, so could you try if it works (or anyone else that has the same problem and is using iTunes Match on multiple devices)?

Hi baze,

that is exactly the solution I described in an other thread here in the support forum. The best way is to change the album artwork on the least (iTunes Match activated) device (in my case iMac) which has no local music stored. I changed 50+ album covers without any problems (if wasting time is not a problem for you 😉).
