iTunes Match doesn't allow album artwork changes in the cloud

Hi

I've got this issue since i've got iTunes Match this february. Whenever i change an artwork for a song or album, these changes aren't done in the cloud. This means, when i access iTunes with the same account from another computer, these same files still have got the old artwork. I've also tried deleting the files and redownloading them again, but also these files still contain the old artwork.

And yes, i've updated iTunes to the latest version (10.6). 😉

greetings

I contacted the apple support, and they suggested to turn off iTunes Match temporarily on all devices but a single one: the one where you're gonna make the artwork changes. Then, after having done the artwork change, update iTunes Match and then, only then, reactivate iTunes Match on the othe devices as well.

Tried this here, but it didn't work for me. If you're going to try this suggested solution, I'd recommened just trying it with a few albums first, rather than do what I did and waste two hours.

@thebaze and @fendle

thebaze, you are right, the solution I wrote is a little bit more complicated then just turning off iTunes Match. But I disabled iTunes Match on all my other devices and Computers to do not interfere the changes I made on the least iTunes Match activated Computer. Then everything works really nice and smoth for me. I agree that it is a time consuming solution, but it works. iTunes Match only updates album art cover on "adding a new album to iCloud". I changed 50+ album covers in the depicted way:

PS: I also checked my whole library that it is downloadable from iCloud, and maybe it was not a really suprise 0,1% of the uploaded titles 10 out of 10000+ where not downloadable, although iTunes Match reported that everything was nice. But by downloading all from iCloud I prove that even the changed covers where stored.

I am pleased to report that I have had great success with getting the Album artwork updated on most of my Apple devices. The ONLY device that has NOT yet updated is Apple TV.

I'm running iTunes 11.0.4 on Mac 10.7.5 (Lion), where I made the original updates.

Latest versions for both. I just updated iTunes today.

  • iPhone 5: iOS 6.1.4 (latest)
  • iPad Mini: iOS 6.0.4
  • Apple TV: 5.2.1 (latest)

The process I used:

  1. Update Album info (Artwork on all, Name and Date on some) on 10 albums by using "Get Info" on the Album in iTunes.

To update the artwork I simply did a drag-n-drop from a web site

  2. Switch to iTunes Store in iTunes
  3. From the iTunes menu, Store > Update iTunes Match
  4. Wait 5-10 minutes to give Apple plenty of time to get my changes into the iCloud

RESULTS

  1. The changes I made to Album Name and Date were updated on ALL devices
  2. The Album Artwork on ALL albums was updated on my iPad Mini
  3. The Album Artwork was NOT updated for 4 Albums on my iPhone 5
  4. None of the Artwork was updated on Apple TV

I even did a "Reset" of Apple TV just to be thorough.

I don't know if the process is slower with Apple TV, or if it just needs a software update.

I'm assuming that the artwork was of "acceptable" size on all albums since all were updated on the iPad Mini.

I'll report tomorrow whether or not there have been any further changes.

I am so sick and tired of the randon issues and incosistancies and problems with this product. I've been doing a major reorganization and tagging of my library. About 30 hours invested so far. Along with artwok randomely reverting back to old versions, Ive been rating everything I've finished with 5 stars so I can keep track. I've been working on this for 4 hours this morning. Figured I'd stop for a while, updated iTunes match and all my rating from this morning are back to no stars. So frustrating. Match has been running for years now and so many issues and long running issues still occur. So frustrating how Apple is so arrogant and does'nt listen to its customers. Arrg.

To All: After Match undid about 4 hours of tagging and what not, I do not trust it. I therefore make all changes on a portable HD, then drag it into iTunes. If it works great, if not, I still have the changes I made and Apple can't undo it all. Most of the time I can figure out why iTunes reverts the changes I make by poking around on the web. Then I try it again. This has saved me much frustrastion.
