How do I get the camera icon off of my home screen? (for the iphone 4s)

You can't unless you restrict the camera through the restrictions setting on your phone.

You can't. You can put in a folder, but you can't remove it. How would you access the camera?
To move any icon, tap and hold on one until they all 'wiggle'. Tap and drag the icon you want to move. When done, tap the home button.
Off your home screen?
Or do you actually mean the new icon on the lock-screen in iOS 5.1?
If the latter, the only way you can do that is to turn the Camera off in Settings > General > Restrictions
Its on my screen when I click the bottom on the top of the phone. When its locked and I have to slide the thing to unlock it, next to that there is a camera icon (I don't know why it is there all of a sudden) but I don't want it there. I do want it on the phone home screen once I unlock it. Sorry should have been more clear.
You cannot remove it, it is a camera shortcut.
How did it get there? It asked me to update my phone today and I did, it has been there since.

Its a feature of iOS 5.1. On iOS 5.0/5.0.1 you had to double-press the Home button to access it, but I'm guessing that many people did not like this idea as it required too much effort, so they added the button permenantly and now you slide the icon up to reveal the camera. Much quicker than the older method.
Obviously I get it's a shortcut .. I just don't like it

I don't understand what everyone means by double click the home button to get it on because when you double clikc the home button the music comes on?
