I pre-ordered a new Apple iPad (3rd generation) 64 GB Wifi+4G LTE yesterday on March 6, 2012. The conformation email I received from Apple said that it would be delivered on March 16, 2012. Is this the true date that my new iPad will be delivered, or is this just the date that it will ship from Apple? Does anyone have any insight on this delivery date question?

Fear not. Your status update will soon change and your "New" iPad will magically spawn into some regional carrier facility as if Scottie just beamed it there from upon high. Your iPad will be delivered on Friday. I promise. đ Of course if there is nobody there to sign for it ... well, then I guess it will have to float around in the transporter buffer for a few days.

As soon as Apple says so - they haven't announced it yet, so nobody can tell you for sure. If you want to "jump" on it, follow the Twitter account of an Apple/iOS blog such as iMore, 9to5mac, tuaw, or macrumors (these are all American or Canadian sites, you may prefer a local one) - they tend to send out the news as soon as they hear it.

Not in my spam folder. The prep message I meant was the preparing for shipping message.
Finally my order shows preparing for shipment. Big sigh of relief!

It takes a couple of seconds to prepare a package. But your tracking info won't be updated until the next event that is recorded, which may be; picked up by FedEx, or shipped, or on the truck for delivery, or ...

My new iPad (3rd Generation) has shipped already via UPS, and says it will be delivered on March 16!! I checked the tracking info and it's sitting in Louisville, KY, where it's been since March 10th. Hopefully they put it on a freaking truck and get it to Oklahoma where I live by Friday!! Lol, yes patience isn't a virtue I possess either!!! I want it here now!! :) But I can settle for Friday the 16th :) Hope yours gets to you on Friday too!!!!
