New iPad (3rd Generation) Pre-Order info.

I pre-ordered a new Apple iPad (3rd generation) 64 GB Wifi+4G LTE yesterday on March 6, 2012. The conformation email I received from Apple said that it would be delivered on March 16, 2012. Is this the true date that my new iPad will be delivered, or is this just the date that it will ship from Apple? Does anyone have any insight on this delivery date question?

I live in PA, too, and my iPad is sitting in Middletown, PA, which is about an hour drive from me. I ordered early morning Friday, eastern time, literally right before they changed from delivery date being the 16th to shipping date being the 29th. It sat in "preparing for shipment" from Friday until this afternoon at about 2:45pm eastern when I received the emails from both Apple and Fed Ex stating that it has been shipped and will be delivered on Friday by 3:00pm.

Honestly, I am pretty shocked that I'm actually really getting it on Friday considering how late I placed my order. I would have been EXTREMELY dissapointed if I didn't receive it on Friday, but not surprised.

I don't have any iPad, so I need one. I am brand new- and ADDICTED to Apple! I just got my iPhone4 in December, and LOVE it so much that I simply can't even bear the thought of living or being without it! :) I really wanted an iPad, and even went and bought an iPad2 late January, but, knowing there would be a new iPad coming out, I took it back within the 14 days. I figured I would save the money and wait for the new one. I really did notice a difference between the screen resolution on the iPad2 and my iPhone4, and it bothered me. I'm SO excited that the new iPad will be better! :) I also tried the MacBook Air, and LOVE that, too, although I have no immediate plans on getting one. I will when my current laptop needs to be replaced, but, I hardly ever use it at all since I have my iPhone, and will probably use it even less once I get my iPad, so who knows when that will be! :)

I do feel for those of you who had your delivery dates changed. That's SO disappointing, especially if you ordered early. That's awful. I truly don't understand how the deliveries work, and how Apple is determining which orders get te-scheduled. Hopefully you will get them before the estimated delivery date.

I preordered mine as well.. but picked a wifi one before deciding to switch to 4G on March 9th. It said the iPad wouldn't arrive until the 27th -- but I tracked the order and it's been sitting in Kentucky for a whole day! I hope i get it before the 27th! My guess is not a lot of people ordered the 4G models so they probably had one available despite my late order. Also, I wasn't able to cancel my first order (the wifi model) but engraved it. The lady on the phone said it's still eligible for return... can someone confirm this? I've heard personalizations are non-refundable... I probably should've waited until I got a refund to order the second one huh? LOL oops.

Middletown Pa. is where mine is as well! not sure exactly where that is. Apple products are very addicting, I have I phone 4s, mac book pro and now Ipad 3. I just wish I had bought stocks back in the day when apple was just starting out. Haha.

Im glad that it all worked out for you!! feels good that we also dont have to wait in line for 10 hours at a local store.

Don't we all wish we had picked up a few thousand shares of Apple back in the day! 😟

My IPAD is also showing up on my profile, but not 3 of my 4 ipods, LOL, think I need to get something updated as thought all of them were registered..they all get used...and my engraved Ipad is in KY so it should be here in central IL on time.

And since I don't plan to part with it but do want to make sure it has a better chance of staying Mine, I did want it engraved. I already own a Toshiba thrive tablet and might sell it once I am comfortable with my new Ipad.

It has a camera connection and a pink folding screen cover and now a bag which will get customized with cute and silly plastic sew on letters, once again My name--it seems to slow down the sticky fingers in the plant where I work...I'm not planning to have my Ipad at work often but no matter where it goes with me, it will be easy to identify that bag as My bag.

Middletown is located outside of Harrisburg, PA. As I said, I ordered Friday morning, and when I received my tracking info yesterday, it mysteriously was already in Middletown, PA. A guy I work with placed his order on Wednesday, and he said he had his tracking info by Saturday, and his too, was "already" in Middletown, PA, which is approximately 45-60 minutes away from the city we live. Neither one if us saw any evidence, whatsoever, that the shipment originated in China, or anywhere else overseas.

Perhaps Apple had batches of new iPads shipped to various locations- such as Middletown, PA, even before the launch last Wednesday. (Wow-it's been a week already!) And that could be why some people who ordered early still don't have their shipment verification or tracking info- While others who placed their pre-orders later do, already.

I have absolutely no idea if this is true or not, of course, but, it does seem like a logical explanation as to why some people who ordered very early still don't have shipping/tracking verification, while others who ordered later, do.

I guess we'll never really know.

That does really suck though for those who ordered early on. I would be mad, and EXTREMELY disappointed if I had ordered early on and still didn't have my shipping/tracking verification yet after six or seven days.

I consider myself to be fortunate, and just plain "lucky" that mine is on its way. I'm honestly very surprised since I didn't order until right before they cut off the 16th delivery date.
