Netflix is not available please try again later (789) for 2 days?

I updated my atv and now Netflix is unavailable I saw other faults in other questions but no one else having the same error

I had the same problem, which happend after the update, after working on it for hours I found after changing the Apple tv resolution to 720hd Netflix is working again. I put it to 1080p I get the the netflix try again problem. Everything else works fine. Apple or Netflix Issue? Mind you that my tv is 1080p 480mhz so its not my tv!😠

After all the circus antics we had to go through, I just gave up and let it be. A couple of days later, I got lucky and my ATV3 is working again at 1080p with Netflix. Whatever they did in the background fixed the problem.


I don't have ATV3 set to "auto". I have it specifically set to 1080p in the settings. Try turning off Auto and maually selecting 1080p and restart.

Exactly the same problem—changed the resolution to 720 and it works. I read these posts as I was on the phone with apple support and the rep was surprised it worked. Supposedly it's Netflix's problem—it would be just be nice if apple and netflix would communicate that there is a problem to their consumers, and it looks like the remedy is bumping it down to 720.

Thank you for troubleshooting. Great call on the 720 vs. 1080 assessment. Can confirm mine (for whatever reason) will not work on a 1080 setting; must be specific to each person's television. Working on 720 (60 Hz). At least we've got it up and running - if not perfectly optimized - on the ATV. It would be awesome if the first person to notice when this is fixed lets the community know.

Thanks to doobies99 for the hint about changing the resolution! I have spent so much time trying to resolve this, and that finally worked! I'm amazed that someone figured that out. I was also able to manually set the resolution to 1280, which also worked...but not 1080. After this, I will definitely be reluctant to download any more ATV updates. I also have roku...never any problems with that. Although I am a big apple fan, they are losing points with me on this one.

😠 I have changed the settings to 720 and 1080 manually and mine does not work, that really *****!!! I still get the message "Netflix is not available, please try again latter", and it does not have any error number.

I will keep trying but it is quite frustraiting because my Netflix works with other devices, and the ATV works perfectly with the rest of the apps. GRRRRRRR!!!!!
